The Emerald Hive
Bee Love Rock Art by Tracy Bees
The Emerald Hive is an extraordinary one-of-a-kind work from the Bee Love Rock Art collection, created by bringing together distinctly different pieces of nature and allowing each one to remain beautifully recognizable within the finished composition.
At its foundation rests a dramatic deep green, naturally banded stone slab, filled with sweeping layers, rings, and mineral patterns that immediately draw the eye.
Above it rises a luminous violet crystal formation, adding softness, translucence, and contrast to the rich greens below.
Together, the stones create the feeling of a miniature landscape earth, mineral, water, and garden meeting in one sculptural form.
Small green and violet stones are placed throughout the artwork like botanical accents, while a piece of natural wood crowns the composition, introducing the warmth and texture of the forest.
The relationship between raw wood and mineral stone gives the sculpture an almost ancient quality, as though these elements were gathered from different places in nature and brought together to tell one story.
Hand-shaped copper moves freely through the entire work, wrapping around the stones in flowing lines reminiscent of roots, vines, stems, and pathways through the earth.
Rather than simply holding the materials in place, the copper becomes part of the artwork itself, visually connecting every individual element.
Golden honeycomb details appear among the stones, while a jeweled bee rests near the top of the sculpture a beautiful reminder of the pollinators that connect plants, landscapes, and living ecosystems.
What makes this work exceptional is its layering of natural materials: richly patterned green stone, luminous violet crystal, smaller mineral accents, natural wood, copper, honeycomb, and the bee.
Each material carries a completely different color, texture, origin, and character, yet together they form a harmonious botanical composition.
It is at once geological, botanical, sculptural, and wonderfully organic.
Every stone is different. Every piece of wood carries its own markings.
Every copper curve is shaped individually.
The finished artwork can never be duplicated exactly.
Part geological treasure.
Part woodland assemblage.
Part botanical sculpture.
Entirely one of a kind.
